We have a property of apporx. 100 acres in an area of bushland near Tenterfield. There is another 1000 acres (approx) of bushland surrounding our property which is also privately owned. Size of property: 4.5 acres. Distance to next crop grower: 2 km. Types of trees within 3km: variety of natives including eucalyptus, callistemon, banksia etc, and we are adjacent to a mangrove forest. Source of fresh water: We have a bore.  

We would be happy to host some hives on our acreage in Port Stephens, we are in a semi-rural area and have a good range of native and ornamental vegetation, including a small orchard, flowering year round on our property. We are adjacent to a mangrove forest which also provides great food for bees.

Size of property: 6000 acres; large grazing property. Distance to next crop grower: 1 km to annual cropping. No nearby hives. Types of trees within 3km: Predominantly red gum. Stands of Grey and yellow box. Source of fresh water: 34 km of river and creeks .  

The property has previously successfully hosted 200 hives at different locations to take advantage of the micro-climates. Access is highly secure and private. Adjacent properties crop canola, wheat, vetch and sorghum but no aerial spraying is carried out. The Murray River Forest is 3 km away.

Size of property: 86 Hectares; Normal household vegetable garden. Rest of property is native eucalypt forest, and some pasture. Distance to next crop grower: Not cropping country.  Types of trees and vegetation within 3km: Tall Blackbutt and mixed eucalypt forest, with understory of acacias, persoonia, red ash, glochidon and banksia.  Source of fresh water: Waterhole on Whiteman Creek 500 metres away. Nearby horse troughs in a separate paddock 5 metres away.
The hives can be placed in a fenced house area of about a hectare, in the shade of some Bunya Pines, Silky Oaks and mature Jacaranda trees. My brother is an apiarist In Victoria and I am quite familiar with working with bees. (I am 74). We are well prepared to fight a moderate fire, and have a 100 metre cleared zone to the east and north of where the hives could be placed. We do not have manuka growing here, but have lots of Melaleuca Alternifolia, in some nearby gullies.

Hi, I live on a few acres and would love to host a honey bee hive after a passion for bees and meeting an apairist on a recent trip to Melbourne. I have a small garden with a few flowering plants, such as lavendar, rosemary, gardenias and herbs. My property has also got several fruit trees, citrus, apples mango's and plums, the property used to be an apple orchard. The local area is farm land (Galston)
