Italian - Ligurian - Ligustica. The Ligurian bees are endemic to Kangaroo Island and are protected by Act of Parliament and are in their own sanctuary. We are free of disease, such as AFB, EFB, Small Hive Beetle and no antibiotics are used. The strain is very hardy and productive. No 'poodle' queens are produced.
Based on British Black. Also very limited number of Golden Italians (special orders). Can only send to Tasmania because of quarantine restrictions (Braula Fly). Blacks are cold climate bees - very different to Italians. Goldens: very quiet, productive but need lots of winter food. Only produce one run of these per season. Also supply Nucs in takeaway box - collection only.
